Salutations!
Hi everyone,
I hung out here on and off a couple years ago, and figured it would be good to reintroduce myself since it's been a while.
I'm Dani, a rando who really likes animals (particularly cats and reptiles... and amphibians... and bats... praying mantis' are really cute, though), drawing, and macabre/dark stuff. I'm a Mucha, Giger, James Jean, and Erin Hanson fan. Admittedly I'm a little weird, a little awkward, got a bit of social anxiety but I'm working to get better. Other than that there isn't much to say about myself, my life pretty much revolves around my comic, pets, and work.
Anyways, nice to see you all! Good luck with applications, and take care!

Thank you for the welcome, Vayandil and Mildegard! I remember the SF community being really chill back in the day, I can only imagine how nice it is now. Mildegard wrote: Tell us about your comic a little Pff I guess I should have done that, huh? xP My comic is 'The Guide to a Healthy Relationship', an NC-17 dark drama focusing on mental health, trauma, and abuse. The story is about an alcoholic trying to make amends for ruining a childhood friendship. At its core my webcomic is a vent comic about experiences I've had or have seen, things I've felt, but I wanted to make it something solid rather than abstract emotions. Definitely not the most popular subjects for a story, especially given the heaviness, but I'm casually into Psychology and medical stuff so I wanted to explore them. (Medical comes in around chapter 5) Also how mental and medical illness is usually treated in media is very annoying. I submitted the application for my comic the other day, it'll be interesting to see what the outcome will be... although I do feel bad since it can be a really uncomfortable read for some. Sorry for the rambling, I'm sure that was way more info than necessary.

Re: Salutations!
It's nice to see people explore darker tones of life. That's the beauty of webcomics, after all; anyone can tell a story they want, without the worries that the business side of comics have.
Although our comic is a comedy about silly owl people, I do actually like stories with little or a lot of heavy stuff – comics, movies, video games, light novels... So your story seems very interesting to me. I took a peek at some pages and I can say I love your art style with color pencils (I think that's what they're called, I'm not native English speaker). I hope I'll get a bit less busy with life in the near future, so I can start actually reading whole chapters!
Anyway, good luck to your application! I really appreciate you're here with us (OvO)

I love being able to make what I want, and there really aren't enough dark, challenging comics to satisfy my appetite. Not saying my webcomic is intelligent enough to challenge, but consuming and creating content meant to provoke strong emotions is cathartic. Aw man, thank you so much for even giving it a peek, and wishing me luck! I really appreciate it! Yes, color pencils is right. Sometimes I use copics to fill larger spaces, and I just got done using watercolor for a scene, but pencils are my main tools.
