Someart Review...?
I posted a little piece of art in a art forum that has a critique or suggestions option and it has been bypassed. So either it really sucks or it's too boring to consider....whichever. True its just a simple piece of line art, but if anyone has a spare brainwave, maybe I'll pose the same question here. I have several character sketches that have been inked in and then colored via the computer, thus leaving the original drawing uncolored. I was thinking about putting together a color book thing of sorts. Thing is--would subjects, such as this drawing:
be of interest? Does anyone here like to color in previously drawn line art?
Also if someone has a piece of artwork that you want some helpful critiques or suggestions for, you are welcome to post a link to the image here and I will try to pass on some stuff I've learned from others. I'm sure that other folks here could offer some assistance as well if it's your desire.
So there, an official Art Critique/Review place!

The coloring and shading are absolutely phenominal. You understand wher eyour light source is and use it very well. It shows in all the little details.
At first glance I thought the anatomy may have been a little off, but I'm looking again and I don't think so.
Its very nice. For sure.

Thanx Crimsonnight. I'm thinking that if I offer it as a coloring book page, that I will have to ink something for the background. I like to free hand color the back ground to give it a little depth, but I suppose most folks would like it drawn for them. I think her eye is a little too big, but I left it that way because I liked having so much green for her eye color...
I use photoshop 6.0 and I see you use photoshop 7.0 for your comic. Any sweet bonus' to that upgrade?

I wish I could answer that, but I never spent much time with 6.0 and really don't have a feel for it. That, and I've taught myself everything I know about 7.0 so I'm not really a reliable source for this sort of information.
 Sorry.

Ooo- I love this one! I love her pose, she seems so confident, yet she is still very feminine. A strong lady!! The coloring is exquisite on this- the fabric has great texture.
Your art critique group friends might be on vacation or something. I know our forum at Talismen has been fairly quiet, but I think forums go through phases where folks are chatty and then they arent, so that might be what is happenign in your art forum.
ANYWAY- I love this piece!!

Thanks Barb. Glad you stopped by with all your busy-ness and all
Funny think about the art group where I have my stuff posted. They are more fantasy fine artists and usually don't have much input for my pieces of line art/comic art. I mentioned a concern, once, about the anotomy of a certain piece that was a work in progress and recieved (from a very talented artist), these words. "You don't need to be concerned about anatomy when doing cartoon art." I don't think she meant it as a 'slam', but I didn't agree. I work hard on trying to have some decent anatomy for my characters...
Anyway, anyone else have a drawing you're working on or want to post a link to?

"You don't need to be concerned about anatomy when doing cartoon art."
HUH?!!!
HUH??!!!!
Well, chalk that comment up to IGNORANCE. There are so many types of cartoon art. This gal doesnt know that obviously. The type of work that you do and I do and Sylvia, and KEZ and a bunch of us here- you damn better know about anatomy. Even if we do exaggerate it a bit, it is still accurate.
How about the originality and movement expressed in cartoon forms? OOOOOO.....
I'm irritated by this person and I wasnt even on the forum!!!
Laura ignore this person. She is a nitwit.
HEy- if you like to do pinups or hunky guy or lovely lady pics(AND I KNOW YOU DO), there is a thread at Drunk Duck here-
http://www.drunkduck.com/forum/viewtopi ... 9&start=60
Come join the fun!! It will get your mind of the dimwitted self absorbed folks in your other forum!!

Thank you! I will. Do ya wanna' see the piece that was told "don't be concerned with anatomy references...."? The file on photobucket is reduced to a pathetic quality...but this is the drawing.
I'll be glad to check out a more friendly forum with fellow comic artists!!
Wheeee! I got the pix to display! Now I can rule the world!!!

WOWSA!
You gotta put that one up in the pinup thread at DD! I loves it!
Of course our FIne Fantasy Artist friend would probably say, "Well, the anatomy is excellent- but why bother? You are working in the Lowly Medium of COmics."
I'm still mad at that chick.
Let it go, Barb. Let it go.
Anyway, this is beautiful- would you mind posting it on the Tally forum too? Lots of folks there like sexy too!! Unless of course you dont want folks to know about these two 'getting it on" hee hee hee
Beautiful as always!

Chupah Prince
Well, it has been a very, very busy summer and I think fall will be just as crazy! I haven't spent much time doing any other art besides my comics and I have to squeeze time for that in. I did start a new painting tho'. It's entittled Chupah Prince. (Chupah is the name of the sort of creature it is.) If I ever get to make the Jade comics, this is what they ride in their world. The creature is horse like, more like draft horse that is. Extremely hardy and resillent. They tend to be a 'one' man kind of creature and can be a difficult ride for a stranger.
So here it is:

FanArt
Here's a piece of fan art that I did for an awesome comic called Outsider. Great read, but doesn't update all that often. Some things are worth waiting for!
And the comics address:

I <3 that comic also. I would send a scathing email to the creator, but hrm, I too am often guilty of hiatus.
