Post Arthur C Clarke
Another of the giants falls.

The creator of the concept of Geostationary satellites, Arthur C Clarke, has died aged 90.

This is a bad time for our heroes it seems.

This saddens me greatly...heck, this depresses me far more than the loss of Gygax (and a lot of Requiem was mapped out through AD&D games years ago)

A lot of the scientific principles I've been dealing with throughout this work have been heavily influenced by things Clarke had mentioned over the years...hell the whole technological transcendence thing comes from him as well.

I am going to miss the man very, very much.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

In some ways this does seem apt for Requiem.

The funny thing is that I was thinking about that quote about an hour or so before I heard the word about Clarke...of course I was asking myself how far I could push it ;)
