Post The "Today's page" thread.
Given that everybody else has one, and the "hello" thread is currently being used as one, why don't we just move it all into here.

Discuss in as much detail as you want. :)

Did the colours get lighter - Particularly the background colours - or am I just hallucinating? They seem a bit brighter than earlier.

Speaking of colour, I like your ability to balance colours on the page. Your colour work is one of the reasons I keep coming back. That, and to bug you. From my POV it's kind of like having an easily embarrassed little sister, except better because I don't have to yell at you to get out of the bathroom.

Well...Not too sure. Part of it was my attempt to make the transision between different lighting clear (ie inside to outside. I found a way to do it last month, but this page was done two months ago) and the rest of it was ditching my old monitor. You cannot do good color work if the monitor is dying.

And thanks for the complement. :) Defenately gives me the warm fuzzies.

Actually, I meant from this morning to this evening. There was a definite shift when you switched monitors, but I thought you might have changed the colours and reloaded the page today. I've been taking omega-3 supplements and I've noticed some odd colour shifts lately (Also, the Day Star no longer blinds me), so this is probably just part of it.

Do we really want to give the newbies access to illegal weaponry?

Lucy's hair in that last panel looks great; Nice highlighting effects with the colour.

Thanks.

And they flush the newbies out of the Box before they use it. You don't want a stray newbie growing on the AK-47s after all. They're IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of once they've taken root. :D

Yikes! Nice lighting effects, especially from the hut windows. This is your idea of 'blech'?

As for cutting out the filler between the hospital and the jungle, good call. If the readers get enough information to follow the plot, while the plot is moving forward, that's good.

Well, the maker of something is doomed to see all the mistakes in something. If the visual effect of a page overcomes the mistakes that I see, I'll be satisfied with it. This page, I can see places where I rushed it along when I should have taken my time.

It's also set-up, which was something I was irritated with when I started writing this chapter. I had to squeeze a lot of information in to as few pages with as little text as possible, just to be nice. The result was kinda blah.

However, some of the later pages have given me a bad case of the creeps, so maybe blah is ok compaired to "Just lemme get it over with already!!!!"

(And no, I won't tell you how they're giving me the creeps. You're just going to have to wait a couple months. :P )

Lucy's got big lips.

Luckily the audience isn't looking at the details - Unless they're a critic, in which case you can shoot them in the street like a rabid dog and call it self-defense. These scenes look like they're happening at night, and the light and shadows on the characters look good.

As for set-up, sometimes it needs to be done. Just as long as the pay-off is worth the wait.

How the heck did I let that last panel get through????

I like that last panel.

A break in October is probably a good idea, what with NaNoWriMo and all. A little time to catch your breath and get ready for no sleep in November wouldn't hurt.

As for your general update schedule, you might want to stick to twice a week. If you go to college in the spring, you'll need a buffer for exams and Hell Week.

'Not. One. Damn. Word."

Lucy is claiming dibs, eh? I guess she likes mountain climbing.

I have to say the last panel of today's comic is just full of goodness. The word pacing Ian mentioned, and also the neat "fade the speech bubble darker behind Lucy's head" is a new way, at least to me, to show the character gradually walking out of earshot.

Hey Vort! Nice to see ya!

Thanks. As an exparament, I'd say it was a pretty functional one. And this time the bottom panel is still one I'm extreamly proud of.

Actually Mir isn't interested in Shawn...or anybody else at the Agency, for reasons of her own. :) What she's doing is trying very, very hard not to laugh. As discussed in the news blurb on the main page, Shawn has a little bit of an odd hairstyle. And he's not exactly graceful socially, either.

Aircars. Jeez, the guys backing this camp have a lot of cash to burn, given that air vehicles are an order of magnitude more expensive to run than a ground car or truck. And the agency sent Lucy and Mir out there on an old river boat?

Budget cuts, I guess.

As for the art - First you get good, then you get fast, then you get good and fast. Don't push so hard that you end up annoying and frustrating yourself.

Now go to bed.

:) Yes, they do.

And it's not budget cuts. The Agency likes to operate in a hide-in-plain-sight sort of thing. You know, somebody walking attracts less attention than somebody running, that sort of thing.

There are NO aircars allowed in that preserve. Ever. Peroid. It's not an easy rule to enforce, but it's well known enough that people just don't fly around there. Aircars get noticed. The bad guys probably have rockets.

On the other hand, twenty to fifty boats are on that particular streach of river every day, doing whatever it is that they do. They're not glamorous, they're not remotely attractive...they're not even fun. The idea of somebody using a river boat as a transport is redicilous. They didn't even bother watching them. Nope, their eyes are all on the sky, watching for strange aircars.

Woopsie.
